Commercial Wheelchair Lift

https://www.deltaaccessibility.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Delta-Accessibility-Wheelchair-Lift-Install-GoPro.mp4

commercial wheelchair liftA commercial wheelchair lift is a cost-effective solution to make a church, school, office, or other public building accessible for people using handicap mobility devices. Sometimes called a vertical platform lift (VPL), a wheelchair lift provides code-compliant access up to 14” in a variety of configurations and are suitable for indoor or outdoor use.

Business owners gain cost efficiencies by installing a vertical platform lift instead of an elevator or long ramp system. Ramps require 12’’ horizontal travel for every 1’’ vertical travel. For example, a 36’’ rise would require a 36’’ ramp. In addition to taking up significant space, ramps can be fatiguing. A vertical platform lift saves space and is automatically powered.

Vertical platform lifts are acknowledged in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accessibility Guidelines as a means to provide public building access.

High-Quality Commercial Wheelchair Lifts

At Delta Accessibility, we pride ourselves on being the leader in commercial wheelchair lifts for local businesses. Delta Accessibility customers benefit from our expansive catalog of commercial wheelchair lifts, accessories, and options. We will help you find the ideal vertical platform lift for your commercial setting.

Our commercial wheelchair lifts are the ideal solutions for buildings that are required to provide handicap access to the public but have limited space available where access is needed. We have vertical platform lifts that can be installed indoors or outdoors. Inclined platform lifts or inclined wheelchair lifts, which can carry users either up a curved or straight flight of stairs while the user remains seated in their wheelchair or mobility device, are available as a great alternative to wheelchair lifts and vertical platform lifts. Inclined platform lifts are very effective solutions when a staircase is the obstacle and the surrounding area is not suitable for a vertical platform lift.

As a trustworthy vendor of commercial wheelchair lifts, we have the most innovative wheelchair lift models and designs. Our goal is to deliver the best commercial wheelchair lifts to make areas open to the public and easier for everyone to safely access.

Our selection of commercial wheelchair lifts offers a wide variety of designs to choose from. At Delta Accessibility, finding the right one for your office building is an easy and convenient shopping experience. Check out our portfolio to see the top-of-the-line products we offer.

Commercial Wheelchair Lift: Designed for the best functionality

commercial wheelchair lift installationThe line of commercial wheelchair lifts we carry are designed to function in barrier-free spaces in which access is required between multiple floors in a building. Whether your requirement is a high-end or an economical commercial wheelchair lift, our selection has them both. All of our products are highly durable and reliable, built for ferrying people in your premises.

The installation of our commercial wheelchair lifts is quick and can fit into any project schedule no matter how demanding it is. As our loyal service to our customers, we make sure we attend to your immediate needs before, during, and after the installation.

We have a variety of sizes and models which can be configured to meet your specific needs. Commercial wheelchair lifts serve as an ideal alternative to areas that cannot accommodate wheelchair ramps and elevators.

The electrical components and the motor that powers our commercial wheelchair lifts are contained within the wheelchair lift tower and do not require extra room. Thus, meeting space efficiency; plus you do not have to give up some of your office space to accommodate large machine rooms necessary in most commercial elevator applications.

Things to consider before you buy commercial wheelchair lifts

Commercial wheelchair lifts are meant only to carry passengers. If you need a lift for carrying freight, please contact our sales team for information about our freight elevators and lifts. Beware of online advertisements for DIY installation of commercial wheelchair lifts. The State of Texas requires commercial wheelchair lifts to be installed by a licensed elevator contractor registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. A commercial elevator permit is also required prior to installation and an elevator inspection must be performed by a TDLR licensed elevator inspector immediately after the installation is complete.

Delta Accessibility is a licensed elevator contractor (TDLR License #20377) and will take care of all these requirements as a part of the purchase and installation agreement. Delta Accessibility also ensures that each customer receives their Certificate of Compliance and displays the certificate according to state regulation requirements prior to releasing/opening the wheelchair lift to the public.

The base price of the lift is determined by the travel height or the distance between the ground floor and the uppermost floor. The wheelchair lift models are differentiated by the maximum travel height of that particular model. We will choose the shortest and most economical model available which has a maximum lifting height greater than that of the project. Now the base price can be set, using the selected model with all standard features included. This standard model is a complete wheelchair lift system suitable for many applications.

quality commercial wheelchair liftWheelchair lifts can be configured and accessorized to fit the installed location, to meet local code requirements, or to meet the needs of the customers. The price will increase relative to how many “bells and whistles” are added. Customizable features include color, cab/platform size and configuration, controls, telephones, automated door/gate openers, clear glass panels/gates, enclosures, lights, sirens, canopies, cold weather packages, coastal corrosion packages, wireless remotes, and many more.

Prior to the installation of the wheelchair lift, additional costs can be incurred if a concrete slab needs to be poured where the lift is going to be installed. Other factors include additional electrical receptacles/disconnects, tower support walls, fascia walls, custom enclosures, landings, door frames, and handrails, etc, which are necessary for a proper and safe wheelchair lift installation to take place.

Commercial Wheelchair Lift Installation

    1. Lift height: Unenclosed commercial installation must not exceed 60” in travel height. The vertical platform lift can be installed with or without the pit. For pit installation, the measurement must start from the pit’s bottom area up to the upper landing. When the lift is installed in an outdoor space, the pit must have a drain. For a floor-to-floor installation, the measurement starts from the floor to the upper landing.

    2. There are two On/Off Configurations for the unenclosed VPL platform. You can either choose the Straight Through (which is the most common type) or the 90°/ Adjacent.

    3. Doors and Gates:  All vertical platform lift doors and gates must have a latch side clearance of minimum 18”. However, as in indicated in ANSI A117.1-2009, a greater clearance may need to be provided. In unenclosed commercial wheelchair lift, a traveling gate installed to the platform is required. Electricity-powered doors or gates are required in commercial applications, which do not have the straight through on/off configuration.
    4. Platform Pathway: The platform pathway must be free from any channels and electrical wire ways. For floor-to-floor travel, headroom clearance must be at a minimum of 80” (2032 mm) travel. Additionally, it is very important that the pathway area should also be properly lit.
    5. Anchoring:  Ensure that the machine base is anchored to the floor. Doors and gates should not be free-standing and must be anchored horizontally and vertically.
    6. Fascia Wall Requirements: To conform with the ASME code, ensure that the fascia wall that secures the full width and length of the platform is smooth and has no holes. It should be properly installed that it will be able to endure a 125-pound side load over any 4-inch square area. For other fascia wall requirements, secure and understand the local codes of your state.
